Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu’s city mosque, taken from a cab

We arrived from Kota Kinabalu two weeks ago, and spent a mere 3 days and 2 nights there, most of which were hampered by Aissa’s stomach pains.  We’re starting to think that longer trips is probably a good idea, especially when your flights make the 3 day trip more like 2 days instead.  A few bits of advice:

  • Tune Hotels is a great budget hotel, except that for some odd reason they don’t like towel racks
  • Never trust 1borneo’s shuttle bus schedule
  • In KK’s budget airline terminal, there’s a restaurant called Asian Cafe which makes Nasi Goreng that reminds me of my childhood (I lived in Indonesia from 1992-1995)

  1. Also, always travel with antacid. The liquid stuff works faster than the tablets, but is infinitely more disgusting.

  2. yeah, don’t forget first aid medicines when you go out 🙂

i’ve never been to kota kinabalu. do you have more information coming up?

  3. Hi Ryan and Aissa, it’s good to know that your blogging again.

I was also in Kota Kinabalu last month and I saw how the city transformed in just a span of less than 2 years from my last visit. Yung new airport super ganda na unlike dati na parang NAIA lang. Even the Air Asia airport is now at least 4x bigger and better. At ang dami ng buildings sa downtown.

I just hope na ganun rin kabilis ang development dto sa minamahal naten na Pilipinas.
