Manila to Morocco

My friend Gabby Dizon and his wife Mench have started a website detailing their wedding plans. That’s nice and all, but the reason that this gets a mention in wanderous is that they plan to spend their honeymoon travelling to Morocco, and asking people (as in people attending their wedding, not random people) to make donations to help them with their trip instead of gifts during their wedding. It’s a brilliant idea that I plan to steal when I get married.

Not that that’s coming anytime soon, mind you. *koffkoff*

Anyway, to find out more about their trip, go on and check out manilatomorocco.

I really enjoyed seeing your great photo taken in the heart of the Marrakesh medina.

I know right where this spot is, and thought I’d share a little-known fact about this place (although some guide books do mention it). Before this spot was a carpet market, it was the old slave market, where slaves brought north through the Sahara were auctioned off until around 1920. Later, it became a carpet market.
